Summary of the Role:
The Application Engineer (AE) is responsible for supporting their respective regional market (Americas, Europe or APAC) with technical support of aerospace products, materials and services. The primary objective is to work directly with sales engineers and aircraft manufactures, component OEMs, and aerospace MROs to advise product and material solutions per the customer’s requirements as well as specify Trelleborg Aerospace standards and modified standards. In addition, they will support the product design engineer on build to specification type designs for the purpose of generating formal solutions and subsequent proposals to be presented to the customer. The AE will work within their Value Stream, supporting all products within, as well as collaborate with other value streams to provide ideal customer solutions.

An Aerospace Application Engineer will utilize all tools within their means to recommend superior products and services.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Liaise with external customers and Trelleborg resources to propose solutions based on customer requirements
Confirm the technical feasibility of customer projects
Assurance of alignment to processes; Product Life Cycle Management, Customer Relationship Management, Project Management Process, Design process and other
Work within agreed and published Consensus of Designs
Support sales in seeking new customer opportunities
Submit customer product design requests to the GVSM and product design engineers
Prepare technical items for customer proposal; drawings, presentations, and inspection diagrams or sketches
Interpret technical data including modeling, FEA or testing results and report to customer
Provide technical assistance to customers and sales personnel
Prepare and present aerospace product, material and service training to customers
Support sales in the execution of strategic and teactical plans to drive revenue
Provide technical support for trouble shooting, analysis in an effort to resolve field performance problems
Maintain technical knowledge of both internal and external products, materials and services
Assist in commercial and marketing activities are requested by GVSM; trade shows, symposiums, forums, etc
Support quality and manufacturing in root cause and corrective action efforts
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in engineering
1 years of within application or product design engineer roles
Proficiency in solid modeling; Unigraphics NX6 or higher, CATIA (moderate)
Knowledge in Finite Elemement Analysis tools and prediction preferred (beginner)
Proficiency in Team Center or similar product life cycle management tools
Knowledge of aerospace elastomer and plastic product applications preferred; hydraulics & actuation, airframe & structures, engine, interiors
Knowledge of plastic and elastomer materials characteristics preferred
Knowledge of plastic and elastomer manufacturing processes preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required

Travel:
20-30% per year
