Logistics is one of the largest industries globally, valued between $8-$12 trillion, with the US accounting for about $2 trillion (~10% of GDP). Improving this industry by even one percent can significantly impact costs, communities, and the environment. Our focus at TruckSmarter is on truck drivers, as trucks move 71% of freight in America (~$900bn annually), and the industry supports nearly 6% of full-time jobs. Despite its importance and history of innovation, the industry remains fragmented and misaligned. Our mission is to transform it—and we need your help. The Role We are seeking software engineers to help realize TruckSmarter's new vision: eliminating inefficiencies in the freight industry through AI. You will work on text-based and voice-based AI agents that handle communication, reasoning, actions, and evaluations. In This Role, You'll Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and engineers to define scalable, flexible architecture. Design and develop secure, high-performance features using Gen AI agents and ML models. Create high-quality user experiences while balancing scope and delivery timelines. Monitor and improve AI and product performance. Review code and provide constructive feedback. Contribute to architectural decisions impacting future development. Experiment with new technologies to innovate features. Ideal candidates have a passion for iterative development, an analytical mindset, and adaptability to startup challenges. You should be eager to revolutionize the trucking industry, aiming for TruckSmarter to become a comprehensive financial platform for owner-operators. Technologies in use include Typescript, React, React-Native, Postgres, GPT-4, AWS CDK. Prior expertise is not required; learning quickly is key. Work model: In-office at our downtown San Francisco office three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays).
