Core Responsibilities and Impact: As an AI/ML Engineer at Oaklet, you'll be our research-driven model architect, building custom AI solutions specifically for behavioral health. While our backend and full-stack engineers handle model integration and deployment, you'll focus on creating the intelligence that powers our platform. You'll develop in-house LLMs trained on clinical data, build specialized models for tasks like treatment planning and progress note analysis, and push the boundaries of what's possible in healthcare AI. Your work will involve designing novel architectures for healthcare-specific challenges, training models that understand the nuances of mental health documentation, and creating AI systems that can assist clinicians while maintaining safety and accuracy. You'll collaborate with backend engineers to define training pipelines and data requirements, ensuring our models can be efficiently trained and deployed at scale. Technical Expertise: ● Deep understanding of LLMs, transformers, and neural network architectures ● Proven track record of building and training NLP models from scratch ● Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning (backpropagation, loss functions, optimization algorithms, etc.) ● Experience with model development frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX) ● Published research papers or significant open-source contributions in AI/ML ● Portfolio of deployed models on HuggingFace or similar platforms ● Expertise in fine-tuning and optimizing large language models ● Data science skills including dataset curation, preprocessing, and augmentation ● Experience with distributed training and model parallelism ● Understanding of model compression, quantization, and deployment optimization ● Proficiency in Python and ML-specific libraries ● Experience with experiment tracking (Weights & Biases, MLflow) ● Strong mathematical and statistical background ● Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field preferred ● Knowledge of healthcare-specific NLP challenges (medical terminology, clinical notes) Compensation: You will receive a blend of salary and equity in the company, aligning our success with yours
