Job Details Job Title: Application Engineer Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Richardson, TX (Onsite) Summary Support and enhance security product applications by understanding product functionality, performing testing and certification processes, and assisting with demonstrations and customer support. Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure product compliance with industry standards and optimize performance for diverse customer needs. Responsibilities Understand and apply product knowledge to support testing, certification, and performance characterization of security devices Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and execute test plans and procedures Assist sales teams by providing technical demonstrations and guidance on product settings and applications Interpret and ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications (e.g., UL, CSA, IEC) for domestic and international customers Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to product performance and network integration Maintain and update documentation related to product testing, certifications, and customer interactions Communicate effectively with customers to clarify requirements and provide technical support Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback from testing and customer experiences Requirements BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline. Strong understanding of physics principles relevant to security and detection technologies. Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with engineering, sales teams, and customers. Ability to learn complex product details and industry standards quickly. Experience with testing, certification processes, and interpreting compliance standards (UL, CSA, IEC, etc.) is highly desirable. Proficient in setting up and troubleshooting basic network configurations (e.g., TCP/IP). Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop and execute test plans or direct testing activities. Self-motivated with a commitment to long-term career growth and knowledge development in product applications and compliance. Desired Capabilities and Experience Strong understanding of product applications, particularly in security and electronic detection devices Experience with testing, certification processes, and standards compliance (UL, CSA, IEC, EMC) Ability to characterize and compare competitive products through standard performance tests Familiarity with networking basics, including setting up TCP/IP and configuring networked devices Excellent communication skills to support sales teams with product demonstrations and customer technical assistance Background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related fields with a solid grasp of applied physics concepts Experience working with test plans, test scripts, and coordinating testing activities with engineering and manufacturing teams Ability to interpret and explain industry standards and certifications to customers and internal teams Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customer needs and testing activities A superb candidate may also have: Experience with product testing and certification processes, including UL, CSA, IEC standards Familiarity with competitive product characterization and performance testing Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including setting up TCP/IP and configuring networked devices Ability to develop and execute test plans and test scripts, or direct others in doing so Strong understanding of physics principles relevant to electronic and mechanical systems Experience supporting sales teams with technical demonstrations and customer interactions Background in electrical, mechanical engineering, or physics with practical application skills Experience working with compliance testing organizations such as Intertek or Underwriters Laboratories Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support testing and customer engagements Job Snapshot
