Associate CAD Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for custom busbar assemblies and applications
Interpret customer specifications, engineering requirements and technical documentation to generate precise design models.
Modify existing designs and create new engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions based on project requirements
Collaborate with engineers to resolve design challenges, improve manufacturability, and optimize performance
Ensure drawings comply with industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO), company specifications, and customer requirements
Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready and support first-of-a-kind (FOaK) design trials prior to mass production release.
Assist in bill of materials (BOM) creation, dimensioning, and tolerancing to support procurement and production teams.
Participate in design reviews, cross-functional meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering workflow.
Collaborate across Engineering and Operations to ensure a smooth transition of data and drawings for production and answer any questions regarding provided 3D CAD models and drawings
Participate in peer-review release process for models and drawings and provide feedback regarding issues needing correction or resolution prior to release leveraging knowledge of drafting standards.
Provide functional support for CAD data migrations from legacy systems to Oracle Agile PLM, Windchill, or PD Cloud applications
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree or certification in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design or related field
3+ years of experience in a CAD drafting role, preferably ETO or custom fabrication environment
Proficient in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using Solidworks and AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, sheet metal design, and structural components.
Familiarity with fabrication methods, machining processes, and material selection
Understanding of manufacturing limitations for formed sheet metal, copper, and aluminum components.
Experience working in an ETO, make-to-order (MTO), or custom manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and best practices for drafting technical drawings.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
Experience with Solidworks PDM system required
Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
Demonstrated history of delivering 3D CAD models and production drawings as part of an engineering team
Excellent communication skills
