Position Summary:
UDRI is looking for an Associate Safe Autonomy Engineer to join the SPIRE group. You will contribute to a growing team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing artificial intelligence (AI), autonomy and data exploitation with an emphasis on safety. An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art AI and machine learning techniques while developing and incorporating safety assurances. Apply today! 2. Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen
3. Ability to obtain a US TOP SECRET clearance
4. Successful academic or professional experience programming in Python or other similar language
5. Understanding of Safe Autonomy concepts, such as run time assurance (RTA) and safety assurance
6. Enthusiastic, motived, self-starting individual with a willingness to learn new skills
Preferred Qualifications: While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. Master's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
2. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills
3. Academic or professional experience with:
-- 3.1. Machine/Deep learning techniques with an emphasis on Reinforcement Learning (RL)
-- 3.2. RL training environments such as Gymnasium
-- 3.3. Pytorch, Tensorflow or other similar framework
-- 3.4. RUST programming language
4. Understanding and experience with current Air Force R&D efforts in the area of Safe Autonomy in the space domain
5. Source code version control systems such as Git, Subversion, or similar
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills
