Automation Control Engineer

The client is a high-precision supplier using precious and specialty metal alloys to fabricate intricate components-from tiny electrical contacts to subassemblies-serving mission-critical industries with vertically integrated services spanning materials development, engineering, prototyping, and production.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated control systems for manufacturing processes, including PLC, HMI, motion control, and robotics.
  • Program and debug PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and develop SCADA/HMI interfaces for production systems.
  • Specify and integrate sensors, actuators, vision systems, and other control hardware to support automated solutions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure seamless system integration and operation.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of automation-related issues.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and validation of new production equipment and upgrades.
  • Document control strategies, wiring diagrams, and SOPs in accordance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, reduce downtime, and increase productivity.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to maintain a competitive edge.

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing or electronics environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI design, and control system architecture.
  • Experience with automation equipment including robots, conveyors, pick-and-place systems, or SMT assembly lines.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and OPC.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
