Job Description
Intermediate-level Automation Engineer will be responsible for PLC Programming, Citect HMI Development, and cGMP documentation development and execution. Additional responsibilities will include developing, testing, and maintaining custom software applications to solve unique problems in a manufacturing environment. Execute small to mid-level internal control system projects, oversee and manage larger vendor supported control system projects.
Training on controls systems as needed. Coordinate and advise process engineering on control system requirements. Engineer must be able to perform industrial field work which may involve some lifting, use of ladders, and stairs. Works under only general direction. Collaborate cross-functionally with users and stakeholders to implement automation solutions support operational needs. Perform controls design and engineering functions in accordance with company standards and policies.
Develop technical documentation, PLC Programming, HMI Development, database programming, and testing procedures for execution. Design electrical control systems and produce schematics using CAD tools. Manage and oversee projects involving automation system integrators. Review and approve vendor-supplied documentation and deliverables. Provide automation expertise to the engineering design team throughout project development. Apply engineering skills to design projects that enhance safety, quality and productivity improvements. Specify and select appropriate instrumentation for control projects. Review Piping and Instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) to ensure proper instrument specifications.
Lead in the generation and management of cGMP documentation including providing technical knowledge for variance and CAPA investigations. Coordinate with technicians on instrumentation setup and maintenance. Troubleshoot and support existing control systems including occasional 24/7 on-call support. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 4-6 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science; Control system project management and execution; and Familiar with FDA regulated quality requirements for control systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 4-6 years of related experienceand a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science;
- Control system project management and execution; and
