Job Summary:
The Sacramento Kings are seeking a junior-level Software Engineer who is eager to grow within the world of basketball analytics and contribute to the development of cutting-edge systems. This role will support the Kings analytics group by assisting in the creation of data tools, building and maintaining data pipelines, and helping deliver clean, reliable data to inform decision-making across scouting, coaching, and the front office. Were looking for a candidate with a solid foundation in software engineering, particularly in automating ETL workflows and developing web applications, who is excited to collaborate with the entire basketball operations department, including the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining and improving existing data pipeline infrastructure
Support the development of automated validation processes for internal databases, applications, and workflows
Collaborate with analysts and basketball operations staff to help deliver accessible, well-structured data
Participate in the development of internal tools and dashboards used across basketball operations
Provide administrative support and general assistance to the Basketball Operations team as needed
Qualifications:
Foundational knowledge of and experience working basketball data and analytics
Basic proficiency with relational databases and SQL, including basic schema design and query writing
Familiarity with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) concepts and workflows
Introductory experience or coursework involving cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Proficiency with a scripting language such as Python or R, and familiarity with another programming language such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or C#
Exposure to front-end or full-stack development (e.g., React, Vue, or similar frameworks) is preferred
Strong desire to learn and grow within a technical team environment
Willingness and ability to relocate to Sacramento and work on-site at the Sacramento Kings offices
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in cross-functional settings
Willingness to learn from others with differing perspectives and backgrounds
Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as dictated by the basketball calendar
Compensation:
The salary range for this full-time, exempt role is $70,000 - $80,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
