Job Summary:
The BESS Control System Engineer will maintain and troubleshoot control systems related to battery energy storage systems (BESS), develop and implement solutions to control system issues, and help design and implement new ways to interact with BESS power plants through the LRE SCADA overlay. You will be responsible for providing technical solutions in conjunction with a multi-disciplined engineering team to ensure technical outcomes exceed appropriate standards while identifying areas of improvement. You will support BESS plants from development into their operational lifecycle and beyond.
Responsibilities:
Create and maintain control code or logic for multiple types of EMS, BMS, and/or PLCs Create HMI applications Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues pertaining to BESS systems Support remotely and occasionally travel to customer sites as requested to evaluate BESS installations, assist with startup and testing, troubleshoot to ensure the EMS, BMS, and accessories are operating to requirements Create specifications for special features Defines a path to solving complex or unusual problems Leads complex projects through the project life cycle Responsible for maintaining standard documentation and procedures as applicable Overseeing the planning and execution of control modifications and upgrades Testing and verifying the performance of systems and products Responsible for providing technical solutions for EMS & BMS. Performs maintenance to control code and implement software updates on BESS equipment and accessories as needed Responsible for design system interfaces to integrate BESS EMS and BMS with LRE's SCADA overlay Perform and document validation results Collaborate with and mentor other engineers within Operational Technology, Technical Services, and consultants as needed In this role, you will have the opportunity to travel up to 20% to LRE Sites. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical engineering preferred Minimum of 5 years of Power Plant Control and/or SCADA experience with at least 2 years of control software development or testing experience in BESS Demonstrated proficiency in multiple programming languages, specifically Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++. Excellent problem-solving skills are required Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as necessary Clear oral and written communication skills are required Ability to work closely with team members of diverse backgrounds Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Physical Demands : Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
