Position Overview We're seeking an experienced Capital Project Engineer to support major capital projects at a leading biotech facility in Worcester, MA. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Principal Project Engineer and other key stakeholders to plan, manage, and execute various construction and engineering activities. This role requires a hands-on leader who understands both the technical and practical demands of capital project execution in an operational facility.
Key Responsibilities Lead and contribute to both conceptual and detailed design efforts, including defining scope, gathering user requirements, and reviewing design packages.
Develop and implement construction safety plans in coordination with internal and contractor EHS teams. Conduct and participate in regular contractor safety evaluations.
Review submittals and RFIs to ensure compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and best practices.
Maintain accurate documentation including site drawings, P&IDs, and as-built records.
Coordinate work between internal departments and external contractors to minimize operational disruptions.
Deliver clear, timely project updates and reports to stakeholders, including engineering, plant management, and internal customers.
Interface with local inspectors and third-party contractors as needed for project-related activities.
Oversee day-to-day contractor operations on-site, including scheduling, safety compliance, and communications.
Support equipment startup through commissioning, troubleshooting, and assisting validation teams during field activities.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
6 8 years of relevant experience in capital project execution, preferably in a biotech or biopharmaceutical environment.
Proven background in construction management of utilities, process systems, equipment installation, and facility upgrades.
Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Able to build collaborative working relationships across disciplines and organizational levels.
Physically capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and safely navigating active construction sites.
