Role Summary
: The Senior Charging System Integration & Test Engineer reports to the Sr. Director of HW/FW and System engineering and is a key driver of the NPI (New Product Introduction) process for all charging- and ancillary electrical systems in Electrify America’s product portfolio.
The role is responsible for creating comprehensive system and components specifications, technically coordinate and support the development teams (internal and external with Vendors) and finally coordinate/conduct the testing and validation of solutions against the requirements. In this capacity the role will closely work with Product and Program Managers, System Architects, Principal engineers as well as test engineers throughout the complete development process. The Senior Charging System Integration and test Engineering must have extensive experience in driving development of complex electro/mechanical systems, the needed steps for a successful system integration including the corresponding validation. The role will support product acceptance and sign off process with suppliers as well as all relevant internal stakeholders throughout the Product lifecycle. This includes design review workshops, FMEAs, reliability testing, UL certification and witness testing.
This role will work closely with Electrify America’s Product-, SW-, Charging Technology and Quality teams to turn business requirements and business needs into products. A strong understanding of electro-mechanical products with embedded firmware/software, electrical safety system design, PCB design and manufacturing industry best-practices is required.
The candidate will present technical progress reports to upper management to drive key decisions and provide status updates on system development and roll-out path.
Role Responsibilities:
Main responsibility – Charging System Integration and Validation (70%)
Drive development process with vendors and internal stakeholders – measured against requirements and timeline
Implement, review and optimize charging system and components design
Work directly with suppliers from project start to delivery
Support and conduct product and component tests, working closely other test and validation teams at Suppliers and Electrify America to prepare product for acceptance and certification
Additional responsibilities – Process ownership (20%)
Implement and refine Engineering test process, based on ISO 9001 principles, guidelines and industry best-practices
Align and coordinate overall Test and validation process with other departments at Electrify America
Additional responsibilities – Alignment with Business/Product development and Operations (10%)
Report on the current project Status to Business Development and Operations
Support Business Development in the communication with external partners, including the preparation of technical offers for the development scope of the role.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Knowledge and understanding of the automotive OEM industry; electric vehicle mobility
Understanding of electric vehicle charging architecture, incl standards such as SAE J1772, ISO15118, IEC 61851, UL 2202, NEC, IPC 610 and related standards
Experience in CAD, thermal management design, DFx, functional & electrical safety
Experience with patent creation / securing IP
Work Flexibility:
Local position in Virgina with up to 25% travel
