Job Description: Seeking a Chief Engineer to provide advisory & assistance services (A&AS) to support a major defense program, focusing on Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition life cycle planning and Space Force systems.
The ideal Chief Engineer for Golden Dome would have extensive experience leading the design, development, and integration of complex, multi-domain space systems, particularly within the national security space enterprise. They must be skilled in enterprise architecture, mission engineering, and technical risk management, with a proven ability to align system design with operational needs in contested and resilient space environments.
The Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SDACP) (SSC/SZ), Battle Management, Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) (SSC/BC) provides highly classified Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems, Defensive and Offensive Space Control (DSC/OSC) capabilities, and space test range assets to meet current and projected DoD operational requirements. SSC/SZ-BC develops, integrates, tests, deploys, sustains, and supports operations for systems that meet strategic and tactical operational needs.
This mission area requires personnel with experience and an in-depth understanding of the environments that include ground, near-space, space, and any system that operates in those environments.
Key responsibilities include:
Technical Authority & Architecture Oversight: Serve as the lead technical authority, shaping and validating the end-to-end system architecture to ensure alignment with Golden Dome’s mission objectives and resiliency goals. Engineering Integration & Execution: Oversee the integration of all engineering disciplines—space, ground, cyber, and communications—ensuring cohesive design, development, and operational performance Technical Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks across the program lifecycle, including design trades, technology insertion, and system vulnerabilities. Mission Thread and Capability Alignment: Ensure that system designs fully support key mission threads, CONOPS, and joint operational requirements through rigorous systems engineering practice. Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Leadership: Lead technical coordination across government, industry, and mission partners, providing clear guidance, decision support, and strategic technical vision. Qualifications Educational Requirements: MA/MS REQUIRED Experience Requirements: Expert in highly classified space control, ground, and C2 systems (concepts, development, build, and test). Expert in maturing technologies through all TRL levels. Expert in architecture and technical requirements development. Highly knowledgeable in space situational awareness architecture development and capability limitations. Expert in systems engineering and program management focused on development, testing, and employing information operations, space, and airborne systems. Expert in space system design, development, integration, test, and operations. Expert in multiple space control-related technologies, including but not limited to optical sensors, radar, electronic support, signals intelligence, and communications. Highly knowledgeable in the space control mission area. Demonstrates ability to develop, update, and coordinate ACAT-like program documentation. Highly knowledgeable in ground system design, development, integration, test, and operations. Demonstrates ability to organize and conduct system-level technical design reviews and audits. Desired Skillsets: Is considered a SME and a recognized leader in the industry. Security Clearance: Active TS SCI Eligible.
