We are looking for a Cloud/Devops Engineer for a position preferably hybrid in Louisville, KY but will entertain 100% remote for a rockstar.

The position is expected to be a long term contract but could turn into a permanent job down the road for the right person.

Here’s my checklist:

• Familiar with IaC, Terraform or OpenTofu required
• Familiar with not only writing it (I’m fine if you have to use AI)
• More important is how to organize and structure it so we can pick a direction and move
• Trigger it from a build pipeline like GitHub
• Familiar with troubleshooting or knows where state gets saved etc… (things just beyond the basics)
• Right now, we’re focusing on API Gateways, lambdas (running python), aurora (postgres), eventually we’ll be working with transferring files to the government
• Would be nice if someone could put together their plan to get things done (i.e. decide on VPC structure, network, authentication, auth…. Walk through the diagram we have and spit out tasks that would need to be accomplished)
• Would be nice if they’re more familiar than with just standing it up and the basics. Adding in throttling and other things to make it more secure and resilient
• Familiar with moving workloads from on-prem to the cloud
• Right now we’ve been talking about how we move forward on a green field effort

Next up, we have a task to take an older process that runs on the mainframe and move it to the cloud
