Talascend is currently seeking a CFD Analysis Engineer for long-term contract-to-direct career opportunity, 100% remote.
Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
Candidates may live anywhere in the continental U.S., but preference will be given to candidates residing within commuting distance to Bellevue, WA. No relocation support available.
OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) Thermal Hydraulics Manager, the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis Engineer will work closely with the designated Project Engineer and engineering team seeking to explore design options for the MCFR Demonstration Reactor (MCFR-D) team. The successful candidates will refineĀ core assembly designs and evaluate their thermal-hydraulic behavior under various conditions in an advanced nuclear reactor system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform state-of-the-art CFD analysis in exploration of reactor architecture options including component selections, configurations, and sizingĀ in support of pre-conceptual design of a first of a kind nuclear reactor system.
Work with cross-disciplinary teams to analyze the thermal and mechanical design considerations for said reactor and its components.
Provide supporting CFD analysis for diverse systems associated with the above reactor.
Provide technical presentations on analyses performed to the broader team.
Prepare informal and formal reports to document findings and make reasoned recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS:
B.S or M.S.in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering from accredited university. Physics, Mathematics or Aerospace Engineering degrees will also be considered.
Must have 5+ years of related experience within Nuclear Power; utilities, US Navy or Start-up.
Demonstrated expertise with a modern CFD tools (StarCCM+, ANSYS FLUENT/CFX, M-Star or OpenFOAM)
Expertise with one or more CAD tools; SolidWorks preferred
Knowledge of liquid metal thermal-hydraulics or experience with nuclear reactor system codes preferred Experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) program and Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standards highly preferred Strong communication skills and collaborative teamwork is highly desired.
