Job Title: Controls Design Engineer
Job Description
The position of Controls Design Engineer requires the individual to apply their technical knowledge and prior experience to design controls projects, select materials, and develop operation sequences for lower to mid-level projects. This role is also responsible for producing closeout documents upon project completion. A proficient level of computer skills, particularly in computer-operated systems and engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, VISIO, and EDS, is essential. Interaction with the Project Manager or assigned Project Engineer is crucial to ensure the timely completion of each project. Effective communication in a fast-paced environment is a must, and some travel and job site visits may be required. Responsibilities
Research and select control system peripherals. Lead the production of controls systems design drawings, sequence of operations, and submittals for lower to mid-level control systems. Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications to ensure compliance with the control systems design. Collaborate with the project team to explore additional options for customers, such as energy efficiency and value engineering. Modify controls designs to reflect field changes during the implementation process (As-Builts). Generate Operation & Maintenance manuals at project closeout. Manage time and cost budgets for assigned project tasks as delegated. Communicate effectively with project team members about issues and information needs from the field. Recommend design modifications in a timely manner to resolve potential field issues. Submit daily and/or weekly summary of work reports to project team leadership. Allocate time weekly to multiple projects for on-time submission of individual time sheets. Practice safe work habits and participate in office safety programs and project-specific safety requirements. Attend and complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training classes. Take responsibility for the successful completion of assigned training and development plans. Participate in ongoing development programs with other entry-level engineers. Essential Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude and thorough understanding of control systems. Knowledge of ALC product line and other vendor products, systems, and protocols. Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics. Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, File Structure, AutoCAD, and VISIO. Effective communication skills for project documentation and coordination. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's degree in a technical field or 2-5 years of related work experience in building automation systems. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to draft sequences and knowledge of devices such as temp sensors, actuators, and valves. Field experience is highly valued. The work environment is based in Pleasanton and may include some travel and job site visits. The role demands proficiency in tools like AutoCAD and Visio, which are standard in the industry, and requires effective communication in a fast-paced setting Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $86000.00 - $110000.00/yr. stock ownership, part of ACCO Workplace Type
