Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Houston, TX

Compensation: $140,000 $160,000 base + bonus

Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire

Overview

We're partnering with a fast-growing organization to hire a Data Engineer who will help drive business intelligence and data strategy initiatives. This role sits within a small, high-impact data team and offers broad exposure across data engineering, analytics, dashboard development, and digital transformation projects.

You'll work on mission-critical projects, including building scalable dashboards, transforming data using Databricks and Power BI, and supporting real-time analytics needs. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on environment and thrives in fast-paced, agile teams.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI
• Transform large data sets using Databricks (PySpark, Spark SQL)
• Support real-time data ingestion and architecture improvements
• Partner with field teams and operations to improve decision-making through better data access
• Translate business requirements into actionable analytics and insights
• Contribute to the long-term data strategy, tooling, and architecture decisions
• Stay current with emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics

What You Bring

• 35+ years in a data or analytics-heavy role
• Strong experience with Databricks, Power BI, Python, and SQL
• Experience building dashboards and working with data warehouses
• Bonus: exposure to Synapse, Snowflake, Spotfire, Azure, or DAX
• Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment
• Strategic thinker with strong technical instincts and a collaborative mindset
