About the Role The Design Engineer participates in controls engineering for projects in the material handling industry and others. The role’s primary focus is Human Machine Interface (HMI), both on local and stand-alone platforms, as well as global Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms. If you are passionate about controls & automation, self-motivated, and enjoy collaborative environments, this position is for you. This position reports to the Director of Controls Engineering.

In this role, you will…

• Collaborate with project teams on creating and implementing HMI & SCADA applications
• Develop tools, process improvements, standards, etc.
• Train and guide other engineers on HMI & SCADA
• Develop and complete accurate applications utilizing customer documentation, prior experience, and verbal guidance with minimal oversight
• Create applications for customer HMI & SCADA interfaces:
  • HMI programming in FactoryTalk View Studio and Studio 5000
  • SCADA programming in Ignition and Wonderware
  • Understand databasing via MySQL
  • Understand programming languages such as Python, Java, etc.
  • Understand PLCs and other controllers to find and access data
• Support, guide, and lead bench testing of system programs
• Support, guide, and lead commissioning and testing of system programs. Aid during troubleshooting efforts and functionality changes
• Develop knowledge of system/application capabilities, hardware requirements, system architecture, etc.
• Specify material, time, and other requirements for application development and deployment
• Travel up to 20% annually

• 6 or more years of relevant engineering experience
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Proficiency with FactoryTalk, Ignition or related software
