Position Description:
Lead desktop-related projects, such as desktop infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Evaluate and recommend emerging desktop technologies, trends, and best practices to improve end-user experience and productivity.
Design and implement desktop management solutions such as imaging, software deployment, and patch management.
Define corporate standards for PC/laptop/tablet hardware, software, configuration, and design
Define standard processes and procedures for performing routine activities such as imaging, software deployment, patch and asset management.
Define process and procedures for disaster recovery for desktop computers
Monitor and resolve Cherwell tickets.
Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for critical issues impacting desktop computers, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to evaluate desktop hardware, software, and services.
Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for corporate adoption.
Ensure that all open projects and demand work is kept current, managed properly, and communicated as appropriate.
Implement changes following established change management procedures
Maintain documentation in central repository for use by any appropriate audience.
Create documentation and provide training to transition routine support activities to the Service Delivery team.
Maintain software and hardware asset inventories following established procedures.
Participate in training and professional development activity including assisting senior engineers to enhance desktop engineering skills
Create documentation and provide training to transition support activities to junior level engineers and the Service Delivery team.
Maintain hardware and software asset inventories using established procedures.
Participate in strategic planning, roadmap creation, and budgeting for end user hardware and and software and endpoint management infrastructure
Participate in training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance skills
Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
Participate in on-call rotation for after hours support
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned
Education and/or Training:
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
Microsoft certifications a plus.
Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
Expert level knowledge of Dell desktop hardware, Windows 10/11, and MAC OS
Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and GPO
Expert level knowledge of system management and backup platforms such as Microsoft SCCM, Intune, and JAMF
Expert level knowledge of application packaging and automated deployment
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Powershell or other scripting languages
Proficient in various desktop tools including MS Office Programs (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint etc.)
Relevant Work Experience:
8+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing Windows desktop computers in a large distributed environment
Breadth and depth of expertise in a technical or functional area; knowledge of work processes and tools is generally limited to own area of responsibility or department
Collecting and analyzing raw data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and other helpful information.
Reviewing and improving analytics processes, methods, and tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and security
