*Position Overview*Read on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.We are seeking an experienced *Senior Electrical Engineer* to oversee and manage the electrical and controls design of expansion and maintenance capital projects. These projects are executed by third-party engineering firms and must align with company standards, specifications, and industry codes. The ideal candidate will serve as a liaison across Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure all requirements are met while delivering projects on time and within budget.*Key Responsibilities Technical Design Oversight** Provide engineering leadership and technical oversight for design packages involving large horsepower (10,000–30,000 Client) turbine and motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations.* Ensure designs adhere to National Electrical Code (NEC) and are compliant with industrial systems and hazardous classified area requirements.*Power Systems Design** Design and review:* 120/208V systems: lighting, panels, outlets* 480V systems: MCCs, starters, motors, transformers, ATS, generators* 4160V systems: switchgear, synchronous motors, circuit breakers, relaying, and metering* Conduct cable/conduit sizing, starter/overload sizing, grounding, and cathodic protection evaluations.*Control Systems** Specify and review:* PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley or equivalent)* SCADA/HMI (Wonderware or equivalent)* Control circuits for motors and valves (electric/pneumatic)* PID loop controllers and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD)*Instrumentation** Support design and review of instrumentation systems including:* Smart/analog transmitters (e.g., Rosemount, Client)* Pneumatic gauges and level/temperature/pressure instruments* Flame/gas detection systems*Project Execution** Develop and manage project scope, schedules, cost estimates, risk registers, and execution plans.* Coordinate with third-party engineering firms to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.* Review and approve technical documents, material take-offs, and vendor evaluations.* Support procurement decisions with technical assessments and recommendations.*Construction & Commissioning Support** Provide technical support during field construction, FATs, and commissioning.* Conduct site visits and walkdowns as needed; PPE may be required.* Assist in the resolution of technical issues encountered during execution.*Leadership & Collaboration** Lead design reviews and ensure cross-functional input from operations, EH&S, and regulatory groups.* Incorporate lessons learned from previous projects into current design approaches.* Mentor and support junior engineers and participate in departmental initiatives.*Key Interfaces** *Project Managers:* Regular coordination for cost, schedule, and technical updates.* *Operations Teams:* Collaboration on functional design requirements.* *External Engineering Firms:* Daily oversight of detailed engineering deliverables.* *Internal Stakeholders:* Frequent interaction with shared services, procurement, legal, and construction teams.*Qualifications Required:** Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering* Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience with increasing responsibility* Strong background in large-scale industrial electrical and controls design* Working knowledge of NEC and other applicable industry standards*Preferred:** Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility* Familiarity with compressor stations and high-horsepower motor systems* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously* Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences* Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive solutions independently*Working Conditions** Primarily office-based with periodic travel to project sites* May require PPE when visiting field locations* Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment managing multiple concurrent projects* Occasional overnight travel depending on project needsJob Types: Full-time, ContractPay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hourBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Vision insuranceAbility to Commute:* Houston, TX 77079 (Required)Willingness to travel:* 25% (Required)Work Location: Hybrid remote in Houston, TX 77079
