Description We are seeking Electrical Engineer Graduates to join the Substation Design team. The Substation Design Engineer (Physical) serves as an engineer on electric substation design projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects. He/she will apply NESC, NEC, and other applicable codes and standards in the engineering design and will also independently produce high voltage physical arrangements, plan and elevations views, station grounding analysis, layout, and details, cable trough and conduit plans, AC and DC calculations to determine station service and battery system requirements, preparation of equipment specifications and bill of materials, and preparation of construction documents. He/she will also work with other internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations of contracted services are met. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for physical design for utility scale substations for power delivery, solar, and wind applications. Prepares reports, specifications and drawing packages. Review and approves project submittals, RFIs and supports field activities during construction. Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects. Day-to-day support and input to internal and external Project Managers. Minimal travel as possible. Understand the in-office work policy as it applies to this entry-level role. Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program 0-2 years of relevant experience AutoCAD and/or Microstation Experience 3D Modeling Experience (Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, Strong and effective verbal communication and technical writing skills. Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others' work. Ability to manage time and prioritize workload effectively. Preferred Qualifications EIT Certification or Master's Engineering Degree a plus Good knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to substations. Knowledge of construction practices and constructability Experience developing general arrangements, section views, plan views, and associated BOM preferred. Experience completing AC and DC load, voltage drop, and conduit fill calculations preferred. Experience developing equipment and construction specifications a plus. Familiar with applicable codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC) AutoCAD and MicroStation Drafting experience a plus. Experience Level Entry Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
