This position will design and maintain electrical distribution and substation systems (12,470/7,200 volts). Responsibilities include designing, writing specifications, preparing cost estimates, managing and coordinating multiple electric utility distribution system projects of varying types and complexity. Designing, coordinating and directing installation, maintenance and operation activities related to substations, substation control systems, primary and secondary distribution systems, and street lighting systems to ensure a cost effective, safe and reliable electrical system. Provides customer service concerning technical issues. Create safe, step-by-step instructions for the switching, isolation, maintenance and/or restoration of equipment and oversee the performance of these instructions. Required Qualifications • Must be a U.S. citizen • Degree in electrical or power engineering, BSEE preferred, from a nationally accredited institution of higher learning. • Familiar with National Electrical Code and/or National Electrical Safety Code. • Ability to analyze, resolve technical problems and provide detailed reports to Engineering staff. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Experience using personal computers and a variety of office software. • Ability to use hand tools to perform electrical control wiring, following schematic drawings • Ability to learn and work in a team environment and contribute to the VTES mission.
