Engineer

New Today

Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport is seeking a qualified Wireless (Wi-Fi) Engineer to eliminate the single point of failure in the airport’s Wi-Fi network engineering staff and to ensure continuous, reliable, and scalable wireless connectivity critical to airport functions, passenger experience, and operational efficiency. The airport’s Wi-Fi infrastructure is a vital component of the network services we deliver, supporting internal operations, some airline partners, tenants/concessionaires , Department of Aviation Staff and the traveling public. This network facilitates everything from operational communications and IoT device connectivity to passenger services and AED devices. Currently, we have only one () dedicated Wi-Fi network engineer managing this complex and high-demand environment. This creates a critical single point of failure, posing significant operational and security risks. Responsibilities: Installing any necessary hardware or software, including those for backups or to monitor system performance Troubleshooting tasks to prevent downtime Providing solutions for upgrade management Developing plans to address consistent wireless network problems Planning for future strategies and initiatives to keep the network operating at high performance Collaborating with vendors and network managers on implementation and deployment Putting solutions in place to continuously test network performance Testing and modifying equipment as needed Deploying access points appropriately and effectively Conducting site surveys Risks of a Single Point of Failure: • Operational Disruption: In the event of illness, vacation, or emergencies, the absence of our sole Wi-Fi network engineer leaves the airport vulnerable to network outages, degraded performance, and delayed issue resolution. • Increased Response Time: With only one individual managing all Wi-Fi operations, including configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization, response times for critical issues can be significantly delayed. • Limited Scalability: As airport operations grow and passenger demand increases, the need for Wi-Fi coverage, capacity, and enhancements will outpace the capabilities of a single engineer. • Project Bottlenecks: Current and future Wi-Fi-related tasks — including network expansions, upgrades, and technology initiatives — risk delays without sufficient engineering resources. Lastly, investing in a contract Wi-Fi network engineer is essential to safeguarding the airport’s wireless infrastructure, supporting operational excellence, and enhancing passenger experience. This strategic move aligns with our commitment to resilient, scalable, and continuous improvement and ensures we are well-positioned for future growth and technology advancement
