This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will apply standard engineering methods to design, develop, and implement new or revised manufacturing & production processes for the efficient/economical production of aerospace products. You will be responsible for translation of design requirements into processes and procedures through research and development of manufacturing and processing methods, tooling and equipment, facilities, and systems to test rocket engines. You will lead the planning and development of engineering artifacts to enable the turning of built engines into tested and accepted articles that satisfy design/system requirements. You will provide guidance to design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques and ensure that production processes and procedures are in compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations.

Location: Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Edwards Air Force Base, CA
Shifts available: A-Shift: Monday through Friday: 7:00 am-4:00 pm NOTE: Occasional weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop new rocket engine integration processes
Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware by developing manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing processes: receiving inspection, integration, test, and maintenance
Closely lead integration operations, focusing on reducing cost, ensuring quality, and daily adherence to the schedule throughout the entire testing process
When non-conformances and escapes are identified, deploy recovery strategies, perform root cause analyses, and run corrective actions
Lead hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire test process
Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight
Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing ones) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize the testing schedule
Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test
Perform engineering drawing reviews and provide final approval for manufacturing
Develop process control measures and evaluate them through statistical analysis
Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment are manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget
Support company-wide initiatives and long-term business goals
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an ABET-accredited university
3+ years of relevant experience
Mastery of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing
Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc.
Tried experience and successful track record in developing/implementing new manufacturing processes
Strong intuition and judgment when faced with ambiguity and the need to make high-velocity decisions
Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an ABET-accredited university
5+ years of relevant experience
Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $89,176.00-$124,846.05 Other site ranges may differ
