What You’ve Accomplished Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related engineering field
At least 7 years of directly related experience
Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria
Above average communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data (meetings, emails, presentations, and customer deliverables)
Ability to Grow Developed networks and maintain good interpersonal relationships
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Strong advanced problem identification and resolution skills
Displaying leadership characteristics
Questioning attitude and practiced self-checking
Advanced level of Microsoft Office and business unit specific software tools (ex. CAD, FEA, CFD, etc.) and computer programming skills

You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As an Experienced Core Design Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Fuel Business Unit. Your work will include: Creating cross sections of various fuel assembly lattice designs to support one of the many light water reactors that Framatome is the fuel vendor for.
Designing new and shuffling old fuel assemblies in a pattern that leads to optimal energy requirements while maintaining safety parameters.
Calculating neutronics parameters, providing inputs for downstream analyses, and documenting the analyzed results.
Working with code developers to create new or revise existing codes and automation tools associated with core design.
Working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful customer delivery.
Supporting first-of-a-kind core design studies to support new fuel product development or new customer requirements. This position requires occasional travel. The range of base salary for the position is between $112,000 - $152,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
