Advantage Technical is hiring an experienced Firmware Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team near Portsmouth, NH. Salary: $140,000/year | Bonus: 8% annual bonus | Relocation assistance available As a Firmware Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and testing firmware for advanced network elements. This position requires hands-on experience with embedded systems across the full development lifecycle-from low-level drivers to high-level application code. What You'll Do: Design and develop firmware architectures for embedded systems in network elements Write and maintain embedded software using C/C++ and other relevant languages Develop features for existing platforms and contribute to new product development Debug using embedded tools and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.) Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced R&D environment Create technical documentation, test plans, and participate in code reviews Evaluate new microcontrollers and SoC platforms, primarily ARM-based Support legacy products and provide sustaining engineering Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies Travel occasionally to NJ for team collaboration and support

What You'll Need: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred) 8+ years of hands-on firmware development experience Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and familiarity with assembly language Experience with RTOS, embedded Linux, and bare metal environments Solid knowledge of communication protocols (Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, USB, etc.) Understanding of TCP/IP networking and microcontroller/SoC architectures (ARM-based) Ability to read circuit schematics and interpret datasheets Familiarity with FPGAs and network element development a plus Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and teamwork skills
