Summary of Position Nexon America’s Western Dev team is expanding with gameplay engineers for an exciting new project. We announced our plan for the 'MapleStory Western Project' at GDC 2024. You will join the MapleStory Development Team, playing a key role in designing, developing, and implementing game features to enhance the MapleStory experience. Collaboration with game designers, artists, and other engineers will be essential to create engaging gameplay and ensure technical excellence. We currently operate in a hybrid model, working in the office 2-3 times a week. Job Responsibilities Develop and maintain game features for MapleStory Collaborate with designers and artists to bring creative visions to life Optimize game performance and resolve bugs for a seamless player experience Perform other duties as assigned Work Experience 3+ years as a software engineer in online game development or related field 2+ years of experience in C++ development Education and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience Experience in public programming competitions is a plus Knowledge and Skills Required: Proficiency in C++ Understanding of online game development, mechanics, and user experience Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to understand complex systems and codebases quickly Preferred: Deep familiarity with MapleStory’s gameplay, history, and community Experience with live online games with large user bases Experience with client-server architecture Experience with scripting languages like Lua or Python Proficiency in Korean Nexon’s Benefits and Perks We offer comprehensive health plans, a 401(k) with company match, wellness programs, paid time off, and various employee events. Salary Range In El Segundo, CA, the annual salary range is $120,000 - $142,000, determined by experience and qualifications. Additional bonuses and incentives may apply.
