About the job you’re considering
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Solution Architect with deep expertise in Google Distributed Cloud Edge (GDC Edge), networking, and Kubernetes (GKE). This role is ideal for professionals who can design, deploy, and optimize edge-native solutions that bring cloud capabilities to on-premises and remote environments.
This position requires local or relocation to Chicago, IL and work hybrid onsite.
Your role
Hands on experience as Architect and implement edge computing solutions using Google Distributed Cloud Edge , including Anthos, GKE, and GDC hardware.
Design hybrid cloud-edge architectures that support low-latency, high-availability workloads across distributed environments.
Hands on experience in deployment of GKE clusters on edge hardware and integrate with centralized Google Cloud services.
Configure and optimize networking and security for edge environments , including VPNs, VPCs, and service meshes.
Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of edge workloads.
Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Deployment Manager.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship on edge computing best practices and GCP-native solutions.
Monitor and troubleshoot edge workloads using tools like Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Your skills and experience
5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with 2+ years of GCP edge computing .
Strong hands-on experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and container orchestration.
Deep understanding of networking concepts: routing, firewalls, VPNs , load balancing, and service discovery.
Experience with Anthos, Cloud Run for Anthos, and GDC Edge hardware.
Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) is an added advantage
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and DevSecOps practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure).
Experience with on-premises edge deployments in industries like retail, manufacturing, or telecom.
Knowledge of data sovereignty, compliance, and offline resilience strategies.
