Introduction
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Engineer-Transport - III to support transport network projects with a focus on backhaul conversions and emerging technologies such as LS6, 5G, CRAN, VRAN, and MEC. This position plays a critical role in planning, designing, and executing traffic needs across the Central Gulf Coast network and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal network performance.
Responsibilities
As an Engineer-Transport - III , your primary duties will include:
Leading backhaul conversions and traffic-related projects for the Central Gulf Coast region (eastern TX, southern LA, AR, western TX, southern AL, MS, western FL).
Engaging in network planning, design, and execution for wireless architecture including 4G and 5G.
Creating transport paths in Granite/CND and coordinating equipment orders.
Managing third-party vendors and coordinating with Network Assurance to meet performance and availability targets.
Collaborating with RF, Implementation, Operations, Construction, Real Estate, HQ, and external vendors to streamline project design and minimize rework.
Supporting LS6, 5G, CRAN, VRAN, MEC, and other emerging technology deployments.
Attending project update meetings and maintaining project status transparency.
Participating in budgeting and planning, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
Improving interconnect tracking methods and enhancing internal processes for better coordination.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
Bachelor s degree or equivalent with four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant industry experience.
Strong experience analyzing traffic and generating transport backhaul reports.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
Knowledge of interconnect circuits (e.g., SONET, Dark Fiber) and wireless network architecture (4G/5G).
Project management expertise.
Desired:
Advanced knowledge of CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems (e.g., Ciena, Alcatel).
Familiarity with Dark Fiber vendors and network portfolios.
Proficiency in Pathloss 5 microwave design software.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
Executive-level problem solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
Quick adaptability to new technologies and wireless engineering projects.
High productivity with attention to detail.
Understanding of engineering and economic principles preferred.
Education & Experience
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
5 7 years of experience in transport engineering within the cellular/telecommunications industry.
Work Logistics
Standard hours: 8 AM 5 PM
Onsite presence required three days per week.
