Hydraulic Engineer

New Yesterday

KLH Engineers, our team of engineers, surveyors, and drafters, works on projects that ensure safe drinking water gets where it needs to go, wastewater is properly treated, and stormwater stays under control. Since 1982, we’ve partnered with numerous municipal clients across Pennsylvania, delivering top-notch services in water, wastewater, stormwater, and general municipal engineering. We bring creativity, technical excellence, and practicality to every project, ensuring our engineering solutions not only work but also make life a little easier for everyone.
We’re currently looking for a Hydraulic Engineer to join our growing team in our Pittsburgh office. If you're someone who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with great people, and making a tangible difference, you’ll fit right in. What You’ll Do:   Lead impactful projects involving the design and optimization of water distribution systems, as well as storm, sanitary, and combined sewer systems. Apply hydraulic and hydrologic expertise to create innovative and sustainable solutions for water and wastewater management. Analyze and interpret system data using simulations and models to develop optimized solutions that enhance performance and efficiency. Make data-driven decisions because guessing is frowned upon when you're managing critical infrastructure. Leverage advanced modeling tools to simulate hydraulic systems and assess various design scenarios for maximum impact. Use industry-standard software such as InfoWater, EPANET, InfoSWMM, PCSWMM, and others to create precise models and ensure data integrity. Serve as a client-facing engineer, coordinating with internal teams, leading meetings, and driving hydraulic models in real time to run scenarios, answer questions, and keep everyone aligned (even when it takes some creative juggling). Analyze and interpret hydraulic modeling results to understand and predict real-world system performance and behavior. Who You Are: You hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering. A Master’s degree is a plus and would be highly valued. You have at least 3 years of experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling. You bring a solid academic foundation in hydraulics and hydrology—you understand the key principles that keep water flowing smoothly and systems working efficiently! You’re no stranger to using top-tier modeling software like InfoWater, EPANET, InfoSWMM, PCSWMM, and/or EPA SWMM to keep sewer systems running without a hitch. You know your way around Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel. You can fly solo when needed, but play well with others and don’t hide behind your monitor when things get tough. Detail-oriented, organized, and calm under pressure—you get things done without breaking a sweat. You're willing to put in the extra time when needed to get the job done right. Why KLH? We’ll give you the space to do what you do best—be an engineer. You won’t be expected to act as a salesperson, and we’re not hung up on accounting metrics or KPIs. We’re big enough to tackle complex, high-impact projects in-house, but small enough that your ideas won’t get lost in the shuffle. You’ll work alongside a smart, collaborative, and genuinely supportive team. We offer a flexible work schedule and the ability to work from home when necessary. We believe in investing in our people through mentorship, continued learning, and opportunities for growth. If you're ready to take the next step in your career and join our top-notch team—one that values your contributions, supports your growth, and offers meaningful project work—we’d love to hear from you. Apply today to discover how your skills and experience can make a real impact at KLH and with the clients we proudly serve.  Powered by JazzHR k9rX3CXMSu
