Position Summary: The Industrial Engineer Team Lead supervises and mentors a team of engineers while leading strategic and tactical improvement projects. This role is responsible for aligning engineering activities with operational goals, supporting new product introductions, and driving data-driven decision-making across the plant.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise, mentor, and coach a team of Industrial Engineers, ensuring alignment with business and operational goals.
Prioritize, assign, and monitor continuous improvement initiatives and production support activities across the team.
Lead the development and review of Value Stream Maps to optimize production and support processes.
Plan, organize, and facilitate Kaizen events, ensuring full cross-functional participation and measurable outcomes.
Oversee the analysis of cycle times, labor costs, and material flows, ensuring implementation of improvement actions.
Identify and deploy innovative solutions to enhance process safety, product quality, operational performance, and cost optimization.
Lead structured problem-solving activities (5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC), acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues.
Manage the preparation, analysis, and presentation of process and production reports.
Guide the development and continuous improvement of work instructions, training materials, and standardized work practices.
Collaborate closely with Planning, Logistics, Quality, Manufacturing Excellence, and Production teams.
Lead MES and ERP system improvement projects.
Drive and monitor inventory reduction and material flow optimization projects across multiple areas.
Provide direct technical floor support, ensuring timely resolution of process issues.
Actively contribute to new product introduction activities by coordinating PFMEA discussions and NPI execution.
Design and validate complex fixtures, layout configurations, and material flow systems where/if requested
Develop technical skills within the Industrial Engineering team through coaching and formal knowledge-sharing.
Foster a strong continuous improvement mindset, floor-focused culture, and cross-functional collaboration.
Leadership:
Advises and coordinates team efforts to completion; answers questions functioning as an expert resource; maintains assignment completion schedules. Performs the same tasks as others within the team along with some higher-level tasks.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical engineering or related field
3+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering or manufacturing
Green Belt certification; working toward Black Belt preferred
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
Deep understanding of lean tools, value stream mapping, and ERP/MES systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives
Experience in a ETO Company
Strong communication and change management skills
