ADNET is seeking a Senior or Principal DevOps Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure to join our dynamic team building next-generation cloud computing infrastructure for scientific research. You'll help build and operate NASA's Science Cloud Infrastructure Project (SCIP) - a cloud computing platform that enables NASA science teams to access, analyze, and share research data more effectively. This work directly supports NASA's mission to make scientific discoveries accessible to researchers and the public under the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. CISTO provides high-end information technology systems and services for science, including assessment and evaluation of new information technologies, hardware, and software and manages one of two NASA High Performance Computer systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions in Azure and AWS
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation tools
Collaborate with a multi-cloud team (~25 members) to deliver scalable, secure cloud services
Implement DevOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and deployment automation
Implement security best practices in cloud infrastructure design and ensure compliance with federal security standards
Support on-boarding and migration of NASA science projects to cloud environments
Contribute to security controls and operational tooling for cloud environments
Provide technical analysis and recommendations for multi-cloud architecture decisions
Required Qualifications
US Citizenship required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA.
5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience, or 3+ years of cloud with 10+ years of traditional IT systems experience
Strong expertise in cloud platforms (Azure and AWS preferred)
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform preferred)
Experience with DevOps practices and tools
Understanding of cloud security principles and experience implementing security controls in cloud environments
Self-motivated professional who thrives with minimal oversight while actively contributing to team success
Strong problem-solving skills with ability to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions efficiently
Clear and effective communication with ability to create useful technical documentation
Ability to pass government background check
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
Familiarity with CI/CD platforms and automation frameworks
Background supporting scientific computing or research environments
Experience with multi-cloud architectures
Familiarity with federal security frameworks (FISMA, NIST, etc.) and cloud security compliance requirements
Experience in NASA's High-End Computing (HEC) environment
Work Environment:
Primarily remote work with occasional collaboration at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
No travel requirements
