Software Engineer, Journeyman Be the Difference

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer, Journeyman supporting the Fixed Wing Branch HC/MC-130 Recapitalization Program. This ACAT IC program aims to replace the aging fleet of Air Combat Command (ACC) HC-130P/N aircraft and Air Force (AF) Special Operations Command (AFSOC) MC-130E/H/P.
Responsibilities Support the Government software development activities for defining, developing, testing, and fielding Operational Flight Program (OFP) upgrades, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation during Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD), Full Rate Production, and Post Deployment phases.
Manage the total software development efforts of the program's OEM, including subcontractors, covering development, implementation, and maintenance of software as per the Software Development Plan, including platforms, support equipment, training systems, and mission planning systems.
Conduct software safety analysis to assess new and modified functionalities, especially for systems critical to flight safety.
Ensure IMPs include major software development and quality assurance activities and events.
Review system/subsystem design information, including Software Requirements Specifications, Design Descriptions, Test Plans, Test Reports, Software Product Specifications, Interface Requirements, and Version Descriptions.
Participate in team meetings, Systems Engineering Technical Reviews, and working groups related to computer resources and software.
Provide technical guidance on software development practices, performance trades, risks, system integration issues, software assurance, and cybersecurity.
Qualifications Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance
Education: BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Experience: 3 to 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in avionics, software, or testing for the DoD.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Agile software development and/or DevSecOps is highly desirable.
