*Job Description*
We’re kicking off a brand-new social media platform and need an entry level Junior QA Engineer with a strong interest in delivering high-quality user experiences. In this role, you’ll help ensure the reliability of our mobile (iOS/Android) and web applications by creating and executing both manual and automated tests. You’ll work with modern QA tools and frameworks to validate APIs, verify UI behavior, and maintain robust regression coverage. You’ll gain hands-on experience in automation scripting, API testing, and test environment management, while learning best practices in CI/CD integration and agile development. *What You’ll Do*
* *Test planning & execution:* Create, maintain, and execute manual and automated test cases for mobile (iOS/Android) and web applications. * *Bug tracking & reporting:* Identify, document, and track software defects using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps, ensuring clear communication to the dev team. * *Collaboration with developers:* Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and release retrospectives. * *Regression & release testing:* Validate features before release, perform smoke tests, and ensure stability after deployments. * *Automation support:* Assist in writing and maintaining automated UI/API tests (using tools like Appium, WebdriverIO, Cypress, or Playwright). * *Test data & environment management:* Work with staging/QA environments to prepare realistic test data and scenarios. * *User-focused validation:* Ensure that all new features meet functional requirements, design specifications, and deliver a seamless user experience.
*Required Qualifications*
* *Education:* Completed bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. * *Experience:* 0–2 years of personal or professional experience in software testing, QA, or test automation.
_Technical Skills:_
* Familiarity with manual testing processes for mobile and/or web apps. * Basic knowledge of test automation frameworks. * Understanding of API testing (Postman, REST, GraphQL). * Comfort using version control systems like Git. * Basic JavaScript knowledge for understanding and modifying test scripts. * Fundamental SQL skills for querying and validating data. * Familiarity with Android Debug Bridge (ADB) for mobile debugging and testing. * Ability to read and interpret application and system logs to investigate issues.
_Soft Skills:_
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work closely with developers and product teams. * Clear written and verbal communication.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Eager to learn and grow in QA automation best practices. * Collaborative, feedback-driven mindset. * Owner mentality—comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
_Experience with:_
* Mobile testing tools (Appium, BrowserStack, TestFlight). * Web automation (WebdriverIO, Cypress, Selenium). * API testing and automation. * CI/CD integration for test automation.
*Compensation & Career Path*
* *$15/hour* — For current bachelor’s degree students. * *$20/hour* — For graduates with a Computer Science degree. * After 3 months as a graduate intern, the role transitions to Junior Full-Time Software Developer at *$25/hour*.
