Description CPH is a multi-disciplinary Engineering and Architecture firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. We are seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative team in Tampa !
The Junior Traffic Engineer will support the planning, analysis, and design of traffic engineering projects for both public and private sector clients. The role involves technical work related to traffic studies, modeling, data analysis, and preparation of engineering documents. This position is ideal for a motivated individual looking to grow their career in traffic engineering while contributing to high-quality, client-focused project delivery.
Duties Include
Assist in preparing Traffic Impact Analyses, Traffic Operations and Safety Studies, Capacity and Safety Analyses, and Traffic Modeling.
Support traffic forecasting, travel demand modeling, DRI reviews, and transportation planning activities.
Conduct data collection, field observations, and intersection or corridor evaluations.
Perform analyses related to signal timing/retiming, signal warrants, intersection operations, roundabouts, and turn lane queuing.
Develop technical reports and supporting documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
Use software tools such as HCS, Synchro, and FSUTMS to model and simulate traffic conditions.
Coordinate with internal design teams and contribute to project documentation and compliance reviews.
Assist with client deliverables including plans, calculations, and other correspondence.
Provide support during proposal development and occasional participation in client meetings.
Maintain project files and ensure accuracy of technical inputs and documentation.
Requirements
Basic understanding of traffic engineering principles, safety standards, and traffic control devices
Familiarity with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, and FSUTMS (training can be provided)
Excellent report writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms
Experience with office automation, AutoCAD, or similar software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation/Civil Engineering, or related field
FE Certification or commitment to obtain within 1 year of hire
1-5 years of experience in a similar role
