Summary:
The DuPont Pencader Plant in Newark, DE has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Lab Supervisor/Quality Engineer.
The Pencader Plant is the leading site for this DuPont business, with connections and influences for our other business sites globally. The business sells products in the automotive, aerospace, electronics, and oil and gas industries.
The site is recognizing significant opportunities in improving integration and effectiveness of the quality management system (QMS).
DuPont is looking for a change leader who can help drive this transformation within the Lab function.
This role will have responsibility for leading the Quality Inspection Teams as well as the Quality Assurance Representatives that support aerospace customers. The position will also have Quality Engineering responsibilities in support of the QMS. This position will report to the Pencader Quality Manager.
Responsibilities:
Supervisor over team of Quality Inspectors that do both dimensional and visual testing of finished products.
Supervisor of Quality Assurance Representatives that are responsible for the inspection and final release of parts that ship to aerospace customers.
Conduct 1st party quality audits to verify conformance to ISO, AS, and IATF quality system requirements.
Lead and/or facilitate root cause investigation of internal and external (customer complaints) quality non-conformances and determine appropriate corrective action by using tools such as; 5 Why, FMEA’s, Root Cause Analysis, 8D, etc. and ensure actions are effective.
Utilize appropriate business protocol (Product Change Management, Test Authorization, Change of Design), to support, develop and implement quality related plant improvements.
Identify and performs corrective and preventative actions related to quality management system improvement, customer satisfaction, quality related aspects of supplier, manufacturing and contract manufacturing.
Effectively use Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to anticipate failure modes, design detections and controls to prevent unplanned events and drive improvement.
Perform statistical analysis of property data and assesses the capability to meet customer specifications and act when a risk of non-conformance is identified.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, Chemistry or related sciences, or field.
3-5 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment with processes certified to ISO at a minimum, with preference to experience with ISO, IATF, AS, GMP, etc.
ISO:, ASD, and IATF Lead Auditor Certification is required but may be obtained on the job.
Ability to understand the quality standards relevant to the industry requirements (e.g. ISO :) and the controls necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with the standards as appropriate.
Demonstrated knowledge of lab analytical instrumentation including preventative maintenance and routine equipment calibration.
Demonstrated ability to understand, calculate, establish, and communicate key quality metrics including complaints, complaint frequency, cycle time & audit results.
Demonstrated experience and results in auditing, carrying out root cause failure analysis and FMEA’s and identify and drive closure on critical corrective and preventive actions.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in data analysis and its application to improve manufacturing process capability.
Experience in process troubleshooting, operational quality SOP/SP knowledge, customer quality change management.
Demonstrated experience in use of statistical analysis and associated tools (Minitab, etc.)
Understanding of quality IT systems (LIMS, SAP, SPC) and tracking.
Knowledge of the processes and flow in the operation as it relates to quality.
Delivers clear and succinct oral and written messages and able to make complex messages clear both internally and to our customer.
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher is strongly desired.
Demonstrated influential leadership skills as to drive quality improvements.
Required competencies: bias for action, integrity, judgement, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, solid time management skills, change agent behavior, and superior communication skills.
