Location: Downtown Chicago - Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite
About the Job
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our systems. You’ll work closely with software engineers, product managers, and customer support teams to build robust automation frameworks, improve test coverage, and deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Responsibilities
Gain a deep understanding of the system under test, including both technical and business perspectives.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and tools.
Create, maintain, and execute automated test plans and scripts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects involving multiple systems.
Drive an automation-first approach to improve test efficiency and coverage.
Identify and implement quality tasks during sprint cycles.
Analyze and communicate test results, track defects, and contribute to performance and load testing efforts.
Define test strategies, conduct risk assessments, and write detailed test plans.
Participate in test environment setup, test data management, and configuration planning.
Continuously improve testing processes and recommend enhancements to eliminate redundancies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
Proficiency in Java and object-oriented design principles.
Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, Mocha/Chai, or TestNG.
Strong understanding of various testing types: Unit, Functional, Integration, Load, Security, and End-to-End.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Prior experience in SaaS platforms and large-scale distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Financial Services, Derivatives Clearing, Risk, or Data Warehousing domains.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and public cloud platforms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex systems.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
