This is a senior-level design engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Civil/Structural Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity for career advancement.
Lead Structural design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
Responsible for the production of engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and engineering reports. Ensure that calculations and deliverables are technically sound and in accordance with project requirements
Apply civil and structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
Produce Procurement Specifications and Construction Specifications (Civil and/or Structural sections)
Monitor the work of assigned staff on technical matters pertinent to project assignments; maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projects
Use effective written and oral communication skills to convey information to project team members and managers
Present written technical information in a clear and concise manner in all deliverables
Prepare reports and deliverables that are clearly understood and meet client requirements; communicate clearly in meetings with client and summarizes meeting notes in a clear and timely manner
Provide technical guidance to project team members
Attend project meetings and perform field walk downs
Mentor junior engineers
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
Essential skills and experience:
Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
BSCE or BSSE degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; MS degree preferred
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in civil and structural engineering
Experience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, and support structures
Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC
Proficiency in finite element analysis software such as ANSYS or SAP2000 or equivalent
Valued but not required skills and experience:
P.E. license
Multiple years of experience in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred, commercial or Navy), highly desirable
Structural Engineering (SE) Licensure
Field Engineering and Construction Experience

About This Business Unit
Sargent & Lundy's Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country's nuclear deterrent.
