Lead, Embedded Software Engineer L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a Chief Software Engineer (CSWE) for our Wilmington, MA location to join a team of experts. As a CSWE, you will be responsible for leading software architecture, design, coding, integration, and testing of Embedded Flight Software that runs space-based imaging payloads. You will also be responsible for developing and testing algorithms, controls, and subsystems for complex aerospace applications. The team you will be working with is responsible for the complete life cycle of the software you create, from development to testing to operation during a mission. To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable working in a dynamic team environment and contributing to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. You should also be team-focused and experienced in working in an Agile team environment. The ideal candidate should have experience as a CSWE on a major program and technical leadership experience of large teams with a mix of subcontractors and prime personnel. Essential Functions: Lead embedded software teams to meet customer requirements within allocated cost/scope/schedule commitments. Provide technical guidance to engineering team members, refine requirements, develop user stories and collaborate on designs. Manage Agile software development projects through the engineering process reviews and process gates. Assesses engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. Lead and collaborate with engineers from various engineering disciplines to determine and develop functional and non-functional requirements of new and existing capabilities. Understand architectural approaches for software design and implementation, including high-level product specifications and design documents. Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts. Lead and support the development of all system documentation and deliverables to include, but not limited to, accreditation artifacts, certifications, and software source code. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. Five (4) or more years' experience in Aerospace, Military, or Space applications. Experience leading technical projects and teams of software engineers to complete complex programs. Experience in developing software in C, C++, Java, and Python. Experience in Real-time Operating Systems: VxWorks, QNX, Linux, etc. Experience with simulators: TSIM, SIMIC, MATLAB Simulink Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, orchestration tools, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins) for infrastructure management and automation. Experience with executing throughout the full System lifecycle including requirements flow down and allocation, design, development, test, and sell-off. Experience in developing and leading the design and implementation of embedded software to support space-based imaging payloads. Preferred Additional Skills: Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance. Knowledge of Space Domain, Flight Software, Embedded Flight Systems, Payload Control. Knowledge of digital, power, analog, or FPGA design. Experience with cradle-to-grave design and cross-site/cross-functional project management. Experience in estimating large software programs for current and new business opportunities. Experience in delivering fully integrated systems (hardware, firmware, software). Demonstrated experience with technical leadership, including working directly with Earned Value Management (EVM) financial reporting. Experience integrating software with electrical equipment hardware. Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation). In compliance with the Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $132,000 - $245,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
