Description Join our dynamic team within the Multi-Domain Solutions division at Leidos as a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This exciting opportunity involves collaborating closely with our Intel Community client to design, estimate costs, manage projects, and oversee the installation and inspection of essential mechanical systems and services. Your expertise will focus on HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boilers, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems that support critical infrastructure. To excel in this role, you must bring strong mechanical engineering experience, outstanding professional skills, and a solid record of delivering results. Primary Responsibilities: Design and manage HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boilers, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems for FAA Terminal facilities, including Air Traffic Control Towers and Terminal Radar Approach Control facilities. Conduct on-site surveys to develop precise designs and produce comprehensive reports. Create detailed sketches/drawings that outline the proposed installations, ensuring accuracy in specifications and dimensions. Engage in construction and final inspections, collaborating with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve design issues. Coordinate design elements with multidisciplinary teams for tailored site-specific adjustments and new construction. Develop AutoCAD construction drawings, site-specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates. Handle project management tasks including safety plans, work sequencing, and cutover strategies. Assist in the creation and management of Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC) and project risk registers to align with Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements. Oversee Work Permits related to potential lead and asbestos hazards during the construction process. Participate in essential meetings, such as pre-construction and on-site construction sessions, to coordinate various ongoing projects. Develop and execute project plans, schedules, and timelines to ensure successful completion of construction activities. Manage on-site cutovers, testing, and restoration of facilities. Provide regular updates regarding project status to team members, management, and other stakeholders. Oversee multiple projects to ensure timely and successful completion. Review contractor design and construction submissions, and communicate findings effectively. Address project-related RFIs (Requests for Information) and manage related documentation. Monitor project progress and address stakeholder needs proactively. Independently evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques while adapting and modifying designs as necessary. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience. Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in good standing in the United States. A minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical systems design, specifically HVAC and plumbing for commercial or government facilities. Strong familiarity with building and energy codes, plus the ability to perform heating and cooling load calculations and ductwork sizing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Engineering Scheduling tools. Expertise in AutoCAD. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain organized project documentation and manage electronic project folders effectively. Ability to analyze data efficiently and provide insights. Capability to develop comprehensive project plans and estimates. A collaborative approach to working with diverse project stakeholders. U.S. Citizenship and TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with SCADA Systems. PMP Certification. Original Posting: May 23, 2025 The anticipated pay range for this position is $104,650.00 - $189,175.00, reflective of experience and internal equity.
