We are a leading financial institution seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the design and development of resilient, scalable, and mission-critical systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on technologist with a passion for data platforms, cloud-native architectures, and building solutions that directly impact millions of customers' financial well-being.
In this role, you will: Lead the design and implementation of modern data platforms and services across cloud and on-prem environments Champion data architecture best practices including modeling, lineage, governance, and data quality Design and build APIs and service layers on top of operational data platforms to enable real-time and batch data access Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, developers, product owners, and offshore teams Guide modernization and transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic goals Design and implement Kafka-based streaming solutions for real-time data processing Provide hands-on leadership in the development of data products and reusable components Act as a technical liaison between business and engineering teams to ensure scalable and sustainable solutions. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 4+ years of Data engineering to include Hadoop, Kafka Streams, Spark, and ETL frameworks 4+ years Data modeling with proficiency in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling for both OLTP and OLAP systems 4+ years Streaming & Messaging experience to include hands-on experience with Kafka, including stream processing and event-driven architecture 4+ years of expertise in RDBMS, complex SQL, performance tuning, and optimization 4+ years of experience in large-scale batch operations, processing and scheduling tools 4+ years Scripting & Automation experience to include proficiency in UNIX shell scripting and automation of data workflows 4+ years of API development; designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service layers over operational data stores 2+ years of Cloud experience with Azure or GCP; experience setting up cloud-native data platforms Desired Qualifications: 3 years of experience in a lead or architect role Legacy systems experience; familiarity with Mainframe technologies (COBOL, DB2, IMS) and modernization strategies Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams Agile and/or Waterfall development experience Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Strategic thinking with a focus on long-term platform stability and scalability Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and mentoring junior engineers Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field Financial services or regulated industry experience is a strong plus Job Expectations: Position is not open to visa sponsorship either now or in the future This position offers a hybrid work schedule Relocation assistance is not available for this position

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates. $119,000.00 - $224,000.00 Benefits
