The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
The Ground Systems Support (GSS) organization is looking for an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer for the Launch Equipment Shop (LES) supporting multiple programs for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The candidate will develop Work Authorization Documents (WADs) for electrical enclosure and cable fabrication, troubleshooting and repair for existing fabrications, as well as engineering review, specification review, component selection, and oversight of fabrication. A background in electrical manufacturing, fabrication, and production planning is required.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrate proficiency of required procedures/process instructions for the cable/enclosure fabrication shop, and operational requirements based on the functional workload.
Assess control panel designs and requirements for feasibility in manufacturing to include the overall layout, component wiring, mounting locations, control panel installation, and verification/validation/testing requirements.
Demonstrate advanced communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate work status, resolve technical issues, and assist in troubleshooting and identifying solutions to ensure continuation of work to meet demanding schedules.
Provide day-to-day technical leadership of manufacturing responsibilities through collaboration with a team of technicians, shop management, support organizations and design engineering to ensure timely execution of work to meet program critical milestones in a safe manner.
Coordinate with Work Management to properly identify resources, durations and work execution tasks required to effectively plan manufacturing activities as well as ensure timely work instruction development to support scheduled work based on priority.
Interface, coordinate and communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, flow/project managers, work control and management to provide technical assistance during the manufacturing process.
Collaborate with Design Engineering, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Configuration Management and Work Management to ensure timely execution and delivery of quality products.
• Actively participate in daily scheduling meetings to understand work priorities, resolve technical issues, and provide as a technical liaison with other entities required during fabrication and execution.
• Provide quick identification, resolution, and communication regarding any challenges to scheduled work.
• Lead and participate in pre-task briefings as required for assigned jobs or projects.
• Provide communication and documentation to ensure safe execution of work, including but not limited to ensuring required PPE is provided and utilized through work instructions and job leadership as required.
• Provide as Subject Matter Expert for technical documentation for responsible area (including but not limited to desk instructions, technical documents, Operating Procedures, etc.)
• Maintain safety, quality, and good housekeeping standards in all areas of responsibility.

• Collaborate with other internal and external Shop Managers, Engineers, Work Management, Project Managers, and other support organizations to maximize the value of integration and continuous improvement across the enterprise.
• Support managers in the performance of functional analysis and critical thinking to identify areas for improvement, corrective action, potential training, and IT system and software improvements.
• Assist managers in the translation of directorate goals and objectives into innovative operational and tactical execution methodologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
