POSITION SUMMARY
The Logistics Engineer (LE) will be responsible for developing logistics and transportation plans for assigned customers and pre-sales activities. The LE will play a key role in achieving company objectives and contribute to identifying, analyzing and developing value-added supply chain solutions for current and prospective customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
Responsible for the tactical planning of assigned customer and potential customers inbound logistics design.
Develop and implement optimal route designs that minimize miles and transit while full utilizing conveyances that meet customer inventory carrying cost objectives
Initiate, direct and follow thru on projects as needed to implement savings initiatives, customer network optimization opportunities, new launch initiatives, and customer expansion opportunities.
Track, analyze and communicate key performance metrics
Responsible for internal communications and presentations related to key performance metrics, program updates and on-going program information
Drives best practices with logistics managers and control tower operations
Regular and predictable attendance
OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
Utilize logistics analysis tools such as PC Miler, 3d Load diagrams, tactical routing software and network optimization software.
Analyze material release quantities against part/packaging data to determine optimal shipment frequency, volume and weight
Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, or business related field with five to ten years’ experience in automotive logistics preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
Must have excellent analytical and communication skills
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience and ability to utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and automotive optimization tools.
Ability to grasp new concepts and quickly adapt to changing circumstances/environment
Ability to analyze problems and opportunities and systematically approach them to make improvements both short term and long term
PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
Ability to effectively lead meetings – face to face, conference calls and/or on-line
