Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing processes. This role involves designing equipment and tooling, integrating and installing equipment into the plant, and managing operations to a steady state. The position requires effective utilization of personnel, materials, machines, and facilities to ensure flawless execution. The work will be conducted in a centralized manufacturing engineering facility and an assembly plant, requiring an elevated level of independent judgment. Responsibilities
Lead all new programs, model changes, and current production in a specific area. Define all areas of change, including product and manufacturing requirements such as tooling, workstation setup, and facility adjustments. Manage assigned zones within the plant, ensuring all tooling, conveyor, material, and automation requirements are met according to the launch timeline. Develop efficient material flow understandings for future material movement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and define common tooling and processes across the department and other groups. Develop tooling Statements of Requirements (SORs). Provide technical direction and oversight to outside vendor sources. Design, construct, integrate, install, and continuously improve equipment and tools required in plants for high-quality part production. Support build events at the plant and address launch issues. Participate in program financials and manage project responsibilities. Work may involve some weekends, extensive travel, and potential off-shift timeframes. Essential Skills
Expertise in manufacturing processes and layout design. Proficiency in tooling SOR and launch support in the automotive industry. Experience with tool layout design, conveyor systems, and automation requirements. Strong analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and solve problems. Ability to manage multiple complex projects with a high level of autonomy and accountability. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with co-op/intern experience in manufacturing. Preferred: 2+ years of manufacturing engineering experience. Knowledge of process engineering, Global Launch Process, and Vehicle Development Process. Initiative to improve output and help others. Some project management skills. Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing environment, with 75% of the time spent on the floor and 90% dedicated to supporting launch activities. The role involves overseeing the engineering aspect of general assembly, with opportunities for extensive travel and off-shift work. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
