About the Role We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in packaging of electronics to join a dynamic team in Wichita, KS. This team designs, manufactures, overhauls, and repairs aircraft instruments, avionics, and advanced power solutions for the global aerospace industry. You'll lead mechanical design efforts for products such as digital chronometers, emergency power supplies, and battery-powered systems, collaborating closely with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design for products integrating circuit boards, batteries, USB ports, and other electronics Design enclosures using sheet metal , machined parts , aluminum extrusions , and injection-molded plastics

Create 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks ; use AutoCAD for legacy designs Optimize designs for performance, size, weight, cost, and manufacturability Collaborate with electrical, testing, and software teams on engineering releases Author manufacturing work instructions and design tooling/fixtures Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain BOMs in ERP systems Ensure compliance with regulatory and qualification testing standards Evaluate and qualify parts and vendors

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering 7+ years of experience in electromechanical design or SolidWorks Strong background in electronics packaging and mechanical integration Experience with battery systems or battery-powered products preferred Proficiency in SolidWorks (recent use preferred but not required) Familiarity with AutoCAD for legacy support Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills Ability to work independently and take full ownership of design projects

Industry Experience Aviation experience is not required . Candidates from the following industries are encouraged to apply: Consumer electronics (computers, laptops) Telecom equipment Marine technology Electronic gaming systems (e.g., IGT) Power conversion products
