WHAT WE NEED: Mechanical Engineer - Stress Specialist with Coordinator Experience The Mechanical Engineer wil l perform pipe stress analysis and other engineering calculations related to Mechanical and Piping Engineering to ensure quality client deliverables. While working toward the success of the Sigma team, the Mechanical Engineer will strive for personal development by continually seeking to expand his/her engineering and supervisory skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Reviewing calculations, answering questions, and providing oversight for junior engineers and non-P.E. engineering specialists. Act as a coordinator by tracking project schedules, budgets, and interfacing with the project team and management to ensure projects remain on target to meet client needs.
Duties/Responsibilities: Perform pipe stress calculations using Bentley AutoPIPE. Review calculations performed by junior engineers and specialists, provide feedback and mentorship to help develop their skills. Track client project schedules, budgets, and project scope developments for communication to the project team and management. Attend weekly internal and external client meetings to provide status updates, answer questions, and take notes for distribution to the mechanical group. Assist the department manager with resource planning, communication with the members of the group, and generation of proposals. Perform miscellaneous Mechanical calculations to analyze: API-650 lower nozzles. ASME B31.3 wall thickness required hydrotest pressures, and area replacement. Column bending. PSV reaction force per API-520 and/or B31.1. Lifting/tailing lugs. Weld strength.
Execute and review pressure vessel calculations using PRG NozzlePRO and PV Elite. Contact vendors to obtain budgetary and/or firm pricing for specialty supports and piping components. Application of P.E. Seal (if registered): Review and apply PE Seal to piping construction work packages. Review and apply PE Seal to calculation packages. Oversee the work of non-P.E. Mechanical Engineering Specialists.
Coordinate with other disciplines during multi-discipline efforts. Communicate with client SMEs when necessary. Perform other Mechanical related tasks as directed by the Mechanical Department Manager.
WHO WE NEED: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university. P.E., licensure in the state of Louisiana is preferred but not required. Application for licensure once the minimum work experience is reached will be required.
10+ years of industrial consulting engineering experience is required . Proficient in the use of pipe stress analysis software (Bentley AutoPIPE preferred). Working knowledge of industry codes and standards, the most prevalent being the API and ASME collections. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to obtain licensure in states outside of Louisiana. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as necessary for field work.
