Quanex is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team located in New Haven, CT.
The Mechanical Engineer will utilize mechanical/structural engineering skills to address technical inquiries from customers and sales representatives, and to support the Estimating staff. In addition will participate in product development and continuous improvement efforts within the product engineering team. The ideal candidate will be adept at problem solving, comfortable with CAD software and passionate about improving products. Knowledge of commercial manufacturing processes used to manufacture products made of sheet metal, steel and aluminum plate is needed.

What Success Looks Like:
Application Engineering, respond to customer’s technical inquiries.
Develop solutions in resolutions to customer’s specifications.
Provide engineering support to estimating staff.
Product Engineering and assist with product design, development, and testing.
Collaborate with engineers on new product features and improvements.
Generate technical documentation for product designs and specifications.
Participate in the development of test plans and procedures.
Ability to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
What You Bring:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks & AutoCAD) is preferred
Strong proficiency with MS Excel and VBA Scripts preferred
Experience with manufacturing processes, DriveWorks, welding and lean manufacturing tools.
Design and manufacturing automation is a plus.
PE license is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 with potential to earn an annual bonus.
