Mechanical Engineer

New Yesterday

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and redesign of existing products, while paying close attention to continuous improvement and value engineering. Designs include physical perimeter security solutions to include barriers, bollards, bollard covers, wedges, and fencing.
Essential Accountabilities:
Accurate and complete drawings created and revisions maintained for every product number, manufactured and purchased part number.
Creation of accurate, complete and timely submittal drawings according to the documented specifications.
Creation of accurate shop drawings with adequate detail to aid the manufacturing process, including a materials list.
Meets deadlines and keeps manager informed of known risks.
Essential Responsibilities:
Design and redesign perimeter protection products using Solidworks.
Value Engineering: Utilizing different materials to make product more cost effective to manufacture.
Analyses will include simulation elements including FEA, tensile, stress, weight displacement, impact simulations and force calculations.
Designs will include weldments, hardware, actuators, motors and hinges.
Review drawings with colleagues as part of the peer review system.
Identify and verify that specifications are correct, achievable, and realistic.
Resolve any discrepancies within the drawings and makes necessary revisions.
Provide value engineering cost reductions for the manufacturing function.
Key performance parameters
Provide design solutions accurately and within given timelines 98% of the time
Provide value engineering cost reductions for the manufacturing function in order to achieve at least an overall 5% cost reduction each calendar year until such time as the engineering and manufacturing is as lean as can possibly be achieved.
