Provide subcontractors with information and direction, as outlined within contract specifications, to allow the work to proceed as scheduled. The Field Engineer has authority to interpret technical requirements and provide solutions in conjunction with discipline Project Discipline Engineer and Discipline Superintendent, to provide drawings and data, and to direct work as assigned and consistent with Company's contractual commitments. May perform subcontract administration of discipline specific or assigned procurements. Elevates commercial issues to the project management team. Will perform in an EPC environment where Company is solely responsible.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as a liaison between home office engineering and general foreman, craft personnel, vendor TA's, and client representatives at the job site. Will provide support for mechanical piping and equipment installation and will be responsible to ensure OEM deliveries and OEM TAs adequately support the EPC contractor's construction activities.
Provides technical direction/interpretation of design drawings and specification requirements, as well as general guidance to subcontractors on overall design. Monitors assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract technical requirements.
Coordinates with Field Subcontract Manager as needed. Issues a daily report for site record purposes. Completes quantity take-offs as required to support construction planning and invoice approval. Monitors technical service representative (supplier) daily logs and reviews/approves their timesheets. Compiles and maintains Conformed to Construction Records drawing and list markups as assigned. Directs site document control activities for design documents. Assists Field Quality Assurance Manager in performing inspections and verification of tests. Adheres to safety and quality standards as appropriate for level of duties and accountabilities. Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. Reviews, maintains records, and responds to Contractor Information Requests (CIRs) as assigned. Issues Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed. Acts in capacity of a "lead person" Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction except as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
2 to 6 years construction management and/or design experience in similar facility construction
Required Skills: Communication skills. Organizational skills. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings and other documents.
Preferred Skills: Knowledge of cost control, scheduling Ability to do material takeoffs and/or field estimates. Mechanical system design engineering experience. Supervisory skills. Contract administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program in the USA or an engineering program, offered by a foreign institution, accepted as valid in the home country or the country in which the individual is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Physical Demands: Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas. See and hear naturally or with correction. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. Requires repetitive movement. May require work above 5 feet in height. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
Work Environment: Typical construction site environment: Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Work around hazardous equipment. Typical office environment. This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
