We value diversity, innovation, and collaboration, and we provide a supportive work environment where your ideas can thrive.As a Mechanical Systems Simulation Engineer on the Ample team, you will work on cutting edge battery and robotic systems for mass production. Our ideal candidate loves solving challenging problems for real-world applications. You will work in close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, thermal and test engineers towards the design and development of the next generation battery modules and charging/swapping systems.What You'll Do:Multi-body system modeling for modal, static, transient, fatigue, explicit, crash simulationHyper-elastic material, sheet metal modeling for explicit, crash and crush simulationProvide static and transient structural safety assessment and design improvement directionConduct durability evaluations based on modal, vibration, impact & fatigueEvaluate safety under crash & crush events (LS-Dyna, explicit simulation)Help guide experimental validation and testing from simulation resultsWhat You'll Bring:Minimum of 3 years industrial or academic work experience with structural / durability / crash simulationsStrong technical and theoretical background in structure/material/fatigue/crashMaster's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, chemistry, or electrical engineering, PhD preferredExperience with 3D simulation software: Ansys suite (Mechanical, LS-dyna), Star-CCM+, COMSOL multi-physics, etc.Bonus Skills:Experience with electrical modeling of battery packs/modules/cells (ECM, ROM, MSMD) is a plusExperience with thermal modeling of battery packs/modules/cells (Cooling/Heating, Air/Liquid/PCM) is a plusExperience running simulation cases in a HPC multi-core cluster environmentExperience on complicated system simulation with several hundred parts or more (contact condition, conformal mesh generation)Proficiency in Python, C programmingExpertise in modeling assemblies and modules in tight toleranceWe are an equal opportunity and E-verified Employer and value diversity at our company.
